About this website: After years of teaching English (and struggling to communicate in German!), I appreciate how difficult it is to learn a language and it is always nice to have some support and encouragement from a qualified, experienced teacher. I love helping people to improve their English and to feel more confident about speaking English. With that in mind, I’ve created this site packed with free stuff to help you improve your English!

Teaching Experience: My name is Nicki and I am based in Portsmouth, on the south Nicki (The English English Teacher)coast of England (see the photo above for a great shot of Portsmouth!). I’ve been teaching English to students from all over the world for over ten years now, which has given me experience with every level and nationality. During this time, I’ve worked at some of the top English language schools in the UK and I’ve helped to train other teachers and run teaching workshops.  I hold both a Cambridge CELTA (A grade) and Cambridge Delta qualification (Distinction for teaching practice).

My Philosophy: I believe that everyone can learn English with a bit of time, a lot of motivation and some support from a qualified teacher. I have lived abroad and tried to learn a language and I know what a disheartening challenge it can be at times. I really enjoy helping my learners overcome this challenge and feel the joyful satisfaction that you get when you have a successful conversation in a foreign language. Over my years of teaching, I have realised that you don’t need lots of grammar rules and complicated structures to be able to talk to somebody. You just need to start recognising key vocabulary and language patterns – this is where I can help you! I specialise in conversational language for everyday dialogues and situations. I want you to be able to go out into the real world and use real English! Once you have finished exploring my site, you might like to buy a subscription to My English Materials which aim to turn you into the confident, accurate English speaker you wish to be.
